From zero to HAM — every button in order.

I wanted to try HAM on Hyperham — a small rebasing token on HyperEVM. I opened the app, connected nothing useful, and realised I did not have a single dollar on Hyperliquid. I had USDC on a normal exchange in my head — but that is a different universe from the app where HAM lives.

Nobody had written the whole staircase. Buying first crypto stops at the exchange. Hyperliquid map draws the afternoon after USDC lands on Hyperliquid — not how it got there. LP vs token starts with HAM in hand. This is the glue between them.

I logged into app.hyperliquid.xyz, hit Deposit, and copied the address. Back on the exchange: withdraw USDC, paste address, triple-check the network Hyperliquid asked for. I sent a tiny test first — ten dollars — and waited until it showed up before sending more.

HAM is not bought with USDC directly in one hop on the app side — not for me, anyway. The beaten path is buy HYPE first on Hyperliquid’s spot market, then move that HYPE to where the apps live.

I opened spot trade, picked HYPE/USDC, bought a small bag. HYPE sat on the trading side of my account. Still not on HyperEVM. Still no HAM.

This is the step that sounds scary and isn’t — if you understand it’s internal. Hyperliquid’s Transfer button moved HYPE from trading → EVM inside the same account. No third-party bridge. No address paste across chains. The bridges field note exists because I confused this with the scary kind once.

I kept a little HYPE on the EVM side for gas — every swap and approval costs HYPE on chain 999.

Hyperham is a website that talks to your wallet. I added HyperEVM to Rabby (chain ID 999, RPC https://rpc.hyperliquid.xyz/evm, symbol HYPE). Connected at app.hyperham.finance.

First popup: Approve. I almost clicked through on autopilot. Read token approvals if you haven’t — it’s giving a contract permission to touch your tokens.

I used Ape In on Hyperham — a pre-baked HYPE → HAM swap. Fewer decisions than hunting the pool on Project X my first time. The swap succeeded. HAM showed in Your Bag.

HAM rebases — my displayed balance can change without a trade. Hyperham shows underlying too; I watch that when I’m confused.

Buying HAM and “staking” on Hyperham are not the same ending. The farm wanted LP. I had the jacket, not the coat-check ticket.

• Test withdrawal from exchange → Hyperliquid before size.
• Buy HYPE before obsessing over the altcoin — you need gas and a route.
